Heat wave

Junior Witter spent a week Gran Canaria putting the finishing touches to his World Title preparations .While temperatures soared over 30 degrees Celsius a strong calima blew in and caused near desert type conditions.

"It was just like someone turned on a hugh hair dryer the heat was tremendous but we all managed to train through it .Keeping hydrated was the key,six liters of fluid and more on a daily basis including plenty of sports drinks did the trick."

Witter along with Adnan Amar and Nadeem Siddique hope to put on a performance of a lifetime when they all feature on the High Stakes promotion at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham on May the 10th.

"The training facilities over here on Anfi Del Mar in Gran Canaria are fantastic, every one of the team has put in 100% me,Adnan,Junior,Adam Kelly,Muhsen Nasser and Gareth Couch. We are all training like Champions alongside Junior and hopefully we will achieve our ambitions of becoming Champions." said Nadeem "Golden Boy Sid" Siddique.

While holiday makers are relaxing and enjoying the sun, drinking and eating as much as they can the team are pounding away in the ring twice a day after a 6 am running session.

"Discipline is the key,you look out from the ring which is set up near the beach and for a moment your mind is saying its a holiday, so you have to keep focused .Temptations are everywhere especially when you are making weight it seems everyone is eating ice cream and your the kid who doesn't have enough money to buy one.But the sacrifice is worth it, come fight night the hard work will pay off," said Junior.

ITV 1 will be screening the event going live at 10pm with Juniors fight the exposure can be nothing but good for Junior who hasn't had the public recognition he deserves as World Champion.

"Its great exposure, millions will be watching people will finally get to see Junior Witter.I am actually better known in Europe as my last few fights have been shown on Eurosport. As we went through Airport security in Las Palmas airport and my hand luggage went through the scanner the guards pulled me over,I was thinking what's the problem here. They stopped everyone behind me and at the other scanning machines while the guards came over and asked me for signed photographs it was unreal. Then while on the plane home I got up to walk to the back of the plane ,it took me twenty minutes I was signing autographs and photographs all down the ailse. They even made an announcement on the plane that they were pleased to be flying the WBC World Champion it was surreal."
